GourMed Special Session in Tunisia

The GourMed special session titled “Adding fairness & intelligence to Mediterranean agri-food Value Chains: The GourMed approach” was held on 15th May 2022 during the 10th International Scientific Days in Tunisia.

The Special Session Moderator was Dr. Georgia Ayfantopoulou from CERTH, the GourMed project coordinator, and the special session panelists were prof. Anagnostis Argyriou from UoA and prof. Lotfi Achour from BIOLIVAL.

During the special session, an introduction to the GourMed project was presented, including the project’s main goals, expected outcomes and the added value that it will provide to MED agri-food supply chains.

The main conference topics addressed included discussions on:

  • Mediterranean agri-food value chains
  • Fair value creation & distribution
  • Fair Business Models & products
  • Technology adoption & adaptation for enhancing competitive advantage

The session was very fruitful and many interesting outcomes were obtained regarding the main challenges for small-actor agri-food supply chains in MED region, as well as the most commonly used Business Models and Technologies in MED agri-food Value Chains and the main obstacles in Tunisia that are preventing from having fair Carob products.
